Former Pakistan Captain Waqar Younis made astonishing remarks after Australia’s victory against Pakistan in the 2023 Cricket World Cup at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Legendry Pakistan’s cricketer”s comment has gone viral.

“I am half Aussie, don’t just call me a Pakistani”, Waqar said on Star Sports.

Waqar commented in the post-match show event after the Men in Green suffered a 62-run loss against Australia.

Once the match got over, Waqar was sharing screen with two former Australian World Cup winning cricketers Shane Watson and Aaron Finch. With the duo in high spirits after the victory of Australia, Waqar made this hilarious comment by reminding the panel of his Australian connection. And his comment has grabbed the headlines. While the Pakistan team is under considerable pressure after two losses.

Waqar Younis is married to Pakistani-Australian doctor, Faryal and the family resides in the Australian town of Castle Hille in New South Wales.

Waqar is part of the commendatory panel as well as expert panellist for the host broadcaster. He is one of the celebrated figures in cricket, a Pakistan cricketing jewel often regarded as one among the finest pacers of the World. He had played 87 Test matches and 262 ODI’s, in which he had taken 373 and 416 wickets respectively, in an international career that lasted for 14 years.

Though Pakistan began with a strong start off in the match against Australia on Friday after winning the toss, five- time champs smashed Pakistan with a formidable 367 runs in the 50 over match. Pakistan choosing to bat first, openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq managed to put up 134 run opening before they were send off by a quick succession.  Later Babar Azam was sent back to pavilion by Adam Zampa. Pakistan have thus sunk into their second defeat.

While, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh posted the second highest opening partnership in World cup history with a 259-run stand. But, Shaheen Afridi took a five-wicket haul to cement a strong comeback from the Pakistan bowling attack.
