India played its first-ever Test in 1932, under the leadership of CK Naidu, but incurred a 158-run defeat. Since the match, India had never managed to get their number of wins higher than the number of losses.

Meanwhile, Team India isn’t the only side that gave the number of wins in tests above the number of losses. Australia, England, South Africa and Pakistan are the other sides with a positive win-loss ratio.

As for the match, India’s veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin completed a memorable all-round outing with a six-wicket haul as a dominant India crushed Bangladesh by 280 runs on the fourth day of the opening Test to take a 1-0 lead in the match series.

Things looked bleak at one stage for team India when the top order failed to put up many runs in the first innings. But the game was back on when Ravichandran Ashwin gave an impressive ton and an 86-run knock was delivered by Jadeja.

When Bangladesh was dismissed for 149 in the 1st innings, Team India had a 227-run lead, which only increased after magnificent centuries by Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant in the 2nd innings.

Setting an improbable target of 515, Rohit Sharma called his boys back to the pavilion.
