KL Rahul is uncertain for the final Test against England, starting March 7, as the BCCI, national selectors, and team management are considering resting a few more players after already sealing the series in Ranchi. As per a report in Cricbuzz, Rahul has not recovered fully from his injury, forcing the NCA to reassess his situation.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Rahul is likely in London, consulting a specialist, since last week. His pain stems from the right quadriceps for which he underwent surgery last year. As per the report, there is still some stiffness and the BCCI is not ready to risk him before he recovers fully in the T20 World Cup year.
Rahul was rested for the second Test in Visakhapatnam as a precautionary measure but as he did not recover from the pain he missed out on the other two Tests. His availability for the final Test in Dharmsala remains subject to fitness.
Jasprit Bumrah To Return For Final Test
Team India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is set to return for the final Test after being rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi. It is, however, likely that the management will rest a couple of players to manage their workload in the final match of the series.
Bumrah has been at the forefront of the Indian bowling. He scalped nine wickets in the Visakhapatnam Test to be adjudged the man-of-the-match. Overall, Bumrah is the highest wicket-taker in the ongoing series and has bowled 80.5 overs in the three Tests so far.
