Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have been ruled out of the Vizag Test, starting from February 2. The Team India all-rounder sustained a hamstring injury on the fourth day of the Hyderabad Test as he showed signs of discomfort after being run out for 2 runs in the second innings. Meanwhile, KL Rahul complained of right quadriceps and has been ruled out of the second Test.
Jadeja”s scans were sent to a Mumbai institute earlier on Monday and upon further assessment, he has been ruled out of the second Test. The all-rounder did not show encouraging signs while walking back to the dressing room and as per reports, his first assessment was not positive. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring the progress of the duo.
The Men”s Selection Committee have added Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar to India”s squad. As per a media release from BCCI, Saransh Jain has been named as a replacement for Washington Sundar in the India A squad for the third and final multi-day game against England Lions starting February 1, 2024 in Ahmedabad while Avesh Khan will continue to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh and will join the Test squad if required.
It is likely that Kuldeep Yadav might replace Jadeja in the third place while Rajat Patidar might come in place of KL Rahul. Team India suffered a 28-run loss in the first match and the double blow puts the host in a spot of bother in the five-Test series.
