Written by Timeline Sports Desk

British artist Andy Brown, who has captivated the imagination of many, was present at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 opener between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday.

Brown was stationed close to the boundary ropes as he watched the IPL 2024 opener and put it on his canvas. The painting captures a moment from the match where the home side are seen fielding and the visitors are batting. Through his artwork, Brown also captured CSK veteran MS Dhoni on his canvas.

“I have painted sporting events in over 150 stadiums in 20+ countries. Tonight was something VERY special! Thank you to all the #ipl fans for the support & warm welcome. More to come! @iplt20 @ChennaiIPL @RCBTweets #CSKvRCB #WhistlePodu #SummerOf24,” Brown said on X.

Defending champions CSK won the IPL 2024 opener against RCB by six wickets. Impact player Shivam Dube (34 not out) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 not out) batted through the innings to chase down a target of 174 runs with eight balls to spare.

Opting to bat, RCB were derailed by a splendid spell from CSK fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman who returned figures of 4/29. The visitors lower-order batter Anuj Rawat (48) and Dinesh Karthik (38 not out) displayed some resilience to take their side to a respectable total after the early blows.
