Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni smashed Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya for three consecutive sixes in the final over of the IPL 2024 clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
Following the dismissal of CSK”s New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell, Dhoni walked out into the middle and wasted no time as he started with a six-over long-off and clubbed the following delivery for a maximum over long-on. Later, Pandya lost his composure and delivered a full toss which the former India captain hit over deep square leg to bring up 200 runs on board for his side.

The decibels went through the roof at the iconic Wankhede Stadium when Dhoni stepped in to bat. He finished off his knock remaining unbeaten on 20 runs off four deliveries, which included three sixes over the top. Known for his finishing abilities during his international career, he batted with a strike rate of 500.
Earlier, Dhoni extended the record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in T20s during the IPL 2024 clash against Delhi Capitals. He achieved the feat when Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw caught an outside edge of CSK all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in the 11th over.
Incidentally, the CSK veteran is the only wicketkeeper to record this milestone in the shortest format. Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Dinesh Karthik and former Pakistan player Kamral Akmal are joint-second on the list with 274 dismissals. The list includes former South Africa captain Quinton de Kock (270) and England T20 captain Jos Buttler (209).
