Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra enquired to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the appointment of the new chief for Indian Olympic association in an agreement to pay an amount of Rs 20 Lakh per month.
Taking to X, she wrote, “Just curious to know how Olympians Association of India spends ₹20 lakhs per month of taxpayer money to hire this CEO- which skills exactly does he bring to the table? Trolling skills or cross-dressing skills….? Bataiye na narendramodi ji”.

The Indian Olympic association (IOA) on Friday appointed Raghuram Iyer as its chief executive officer.
Reposting the post of Swati Chaturvedi, journalist, Mahua quizzed about the criteria of the selection procedure. In the post, she shared the letter of the IOA President PT Usha in which it is stated that the ‘tax payer funded’ association recruited Iyer offering an amount of Rs 20 lakh per months during the period of the probation.
She wrote, “I would like to inform you that, as discussed during the meeting, I had a procedure discussion with Mr. Iyer regarding his remuneration. After careful consideration and negotiations, we have successfully reached an agreement that aligns with both parties’ expectation”.
The letter was shared captioned, “Unbelievable that the tax payer funded (our money) Indian Olympic Association will be paying ₹ 20 lakh a month to a certain Mr Iyer as CEO. Top official of the GOI Cabinet Secretary is paid ₹ 2.50 lakhs (plus perks)”.
Iyer was selected by the IOA Nomination Committee. He has also served as the CEO of Indian Premier League sides Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Rising Pune Supergiant and Indian Super league side ATK Mohun Bagan and table tennis outfit RPSG Mavericks.
