Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian cricket team captain, has filed a criminal complaint against his former business associate in a sports firm, Aarka Sports and Management Limited. Dhoni moved the legal action against Mihir Diwakar and Soumya Vishwas on a business deal from 2017.
As per a agreement that Diwakar had reportedly signed with Dhoni in 2017 for the establishment of cricket academies under Dhoni’s name in both India and abroad, Diwakar and his firm did not adhere to the terms mentioned in the deal, according to the complaint. Dhoni claimed that his former partners defrauded him of more than Rs 15 crore by not sticking to the terms of the agreement.
According to reports, Aarka Sport Management was liable to pay the franchise fee and share profit as per the ratio mentioned in the deal. However, the company failed to adhere to the terms and set up academies without Dhoni’s knowledge. After failing to adhere to the terms, Dhoni sent several notices about the violation of the agreement, but upon not getting responses, he ended the rights of the company he granted from his side.
However, Using Dhoni’s name, the former business associate continued to set up more cricket academies and sports complexes without informing Dhoni or sharing any share of profit. Mr Diwakar is the managing editor of the company, as per the website, while Dhoni was projected as the mentor of the firm. They also used Dhoni’s huge number of photos on the websites, claiming that the company provides top-class consultancy. The company presents itself as a specialised consultancy in athlete and player management.
