Great news for all the Neymar Jr. fans in India! The latest multi-million acquisition of the Saudi Professional League, Brazilian superstar footballer Neymar Jr., is all set to play in India for the first time. This is the first visit of Neymar Jr., one of the most talented footballers in modern football, who signed with the Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal recently. According to the Asian Champions League draw that was held today, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona star”s team, Al Hilal, will play in the same group as Indian football club Mumbai City.
Al Hilal will play Mumbai City in the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune. This Pune stadium will be Mumbai City”s “home” for the Asian Champions League, as their actual home ground, the Andheri Sports Complex, did not meet the tournament”s requirements.
The group stage matches of the Asian Champions League will start on September 18, and it is not yet clear when Neymar Jr. and his club will be playing in Pune.
Apart from Mumbai City, Al Hilal is joined by Iran”s FC Nassaji Mazandaran and Uzbekistan”s Navbahor in Group D of this edition of the Asian Champions League.
Following the superstar departures of European football, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and N”Golo Kante, Brazilian Neymar Jr. joined the Saudi Professional League in the second week of August.
Before joining Paris Saint-Germain, the 31-year-old player had worn the jerseys of Santos FC and FC Barcelona.
He had scored 71 goals and picked up 37 assists in 138 matches with Santos, and left for Europe to join FC Barcelona in the summer of 2013.
Neymar Jr. spent four seasons with the Catalan club, scoring 105 times and providing 76 assists in 186 appearances.
He joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017. Later, he was reunited with his Barcelona teammate and member of the deadly MSN (Messi-Suarez-Neymar) trio, Lionel Messi. Recently, Lionel Messi left PSG to join MLS side Inter Miami in the US. Interestingly, Lionel Messi was also linked with Al Hilal for a record transfer.
In PSG, over the period of six years, the Brazilian striker has accumulated a total of 118 goals in 173 matches, making him Paris Saint-Germain”s fourth all-time highest scorer, according to a statement from the Paris side.
