The New Zealand sensation of ICC World Cup 2023, Rachin Ravindra has already grabbed the limelight after successfully making an impact in the tournament with 565 runs in nine innings. Being in great form throughout the series, he has secured the third-highest scorer position.

The Black caps will now face the table toppers in the semi-final match scheduled on Wednesday at Wankhede stadium. This is the fifth consecutive time New Zealand has reached into the semi-finals and will aim to make a third consecutive final if they manage to win against India at Mumbai. Rachin Ravindra has been a breakthrough star of the 2023 World Cup and remained as a key player to New Zealand’s World cup campaign. He has so far scored three centuries and two half-centuries. Rachin even took the number three spot of Kane Williamson when the Kiwi skipper was out due to injury and ensured that his absence never effected the game.

Rachin Ravindra is of Indian origin as his father was born and bought up in Bangalore before moving to New Zealand. But on contrary to the popular belief that the star player was named after the Indian legendry cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, his father denied the claim and clarified that the name was not intentionally derived from the iconic players. He also stated that they recently realized the similarity of their son’s name to the cricketing legends.

“When Rachin was born, my wife proposed the name, and we quickly agreed on it because it sounded good, was easy to spell, and was short. Only later did we realize it unintentionally combined Rahul and Sachin’s names. Our intention wasn’t to groom our child into a cricketer or anything like that,” he said to The Print.

Rachin has played a total three Test matches, 21 ODIs, and 18 T20Is in his career.
