Playing on the right, the Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal has lit up the Euro 2024 with his goal against France in the semi-finals. The 16-year-old has already invaded the pages of history by becoming the youngest scorer and player in the tournament’s history.
However, the journey of the young star was complicated with obstacles. As per the labour laws in Germany, minors are not allowed to work past 8 pm. However, there is an exception granted to the athletes allowing them to stay till 11 pm. But that doesn’t end the problem of the player at the moment. As per the reports, when half-time and post-match commitments like media duties are counted, a full match would put him past the deadline.

Spain’s last match in round 16 against Georgia kicked off at 9 pm local time, by keeping him on the field for the full 90 minutes, coach Luis de La Fuente technically left the Spanish federation open to a € 30,000 fine for contravening the legislation.
However, nobody is quite sure whether the legislation will actually be enforced and how serious the situation really is. Even if it is so, the federation will be happy to pay the hefty fine- which sums up to € 150,000, if the team makes it all the way to the trophy.
Yamal has been a key instrument throughout the matches in Euro 2024. His ability to take on the defenders, creating scoring opportunities and maintain composure under pressure has made him an important player.
Moreover, with the Spain pinning their hopes on the shoulder of the youngster and him being a crucial attacking threat, it is impossible to think of being dropped from the team. Even if the French star falters, it has been a tournament to remember for Yamal and his fans.
