Two Australian Women Cricketers Molested In Indore, Accused Arrested
Two members of the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, currently participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, were allegedly stalked and one of them molested by a motorcyclist in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday, as per PTI.
The accused, identified as Aqueel Khan, has been arrested and charged under Sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Thursday morning (October 23, 2025), when the players stepped out of their hotel and were walking towards a nearby café along Khajrana Road, roughly three kilometres away.
A man on a motorcycle reportedly began following them and later “approached and touched one of the players inappropriately”, prompting immediate outrage and distress.

Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed the incident in an official statement on Saturday, expressing concern and assuring that the players are being fully supported. “Cricket Australia can confirm two members of the Australian Women’s Team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a cafe in Indore. The matter was reported by team security to police, who are handling the matter,” the statement read.
Following the incident, the players immediately informed their team security manager, Danny Simmons, who filed a formal complaint at the M.I.G. Police Station.
Acting swiftly, the Indore Police registered an FIR and began tracing the accused using CCTV footage and local intelligence. Within 24 hours, the suspect was identified and arrested.

Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi of the Khajrana Police confirmed the arrest, stating that the accused was taken into custody on Friday and is currently under interrogation.
The Australian squad, which has already qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup, played its final group-stage match against South Africa in Indore on Saturday (October 25, 2025). The upcoming semi-finals and final are scheduled to take place in Guwahati and Navi Mumbai, respectively.
