Bangur Nagar Police in Delhi arrested four men and two women for allegedly using online dating apps to entice men into money traps. The accused gang ploy secretly and invites their targets to a hotel for dinner dates. These targeted men would pay inflated amounts for food and beverages served by the hotel. This is how they execute their game plan.
The women involved in this gang create fake profiles on various dating apps to lure men. They start chatting with each other and attempt to be intimate with the men. This has been their operandi and invite them to hotels for dinner dates where the accused woman would be waiting.
She offers him alcohol and makes him go overboard. Once he is highly intoxicated, the accused swiftly vanishes from the hotel and this further forces him to pay the bill following the hotel staff’s intimidation. The police also suspect that the accused collaborated with pub staff, offering them a share of the extorted money. However, no hotel staff have been arrested yet since evidence is still being gathered from the hotel.
The gang was arrested following a technical probe led by DCP Anand Bhoite and senior inspector Anil Thackeray including assistant Inspector Vivek Tambe and Rahul Bhadarge. The police team conducted a raid at a suburban hotel and picked up the six involved in this case. It was said that the investigation is ongoing, and police are working to gather more evidence to build a strong case against the accused gang.

Similar to this incident, another arrest befell on Wednesday over the complaint of a young Goregaon resident. He was reportedly dating a girl who he met on an online dating app. She asked him if they both could catch up for a date giving directions to a pub in Andheri.
The accused girl intoxicated him offering drinks as he found his liquor to have a strange taste. The girl vanished about an hour later as the waiter presented an inflated bill of Rs 40,000. He noticed that the bill was different from what they had served and later approached police in Mumbai.
