On Wednesday, the Tech billionaire Elon Musk sparked division online after confirming that the X users’ “likes” will be made private to other accounts to protect their privacy. The social media platform rolled out a feature called ‘private likes’, which aims to change how users interact with posts. Following the announcement Musk posted on X about the rapid hike in likes after it was made private.

As per the graph, users liked more posts on X. The social media platform observed a hike in the rate of likes. The exponential increase peaked at around 6 PM GMT. While the graph also displays a dip in the next hour, Musk sounds contented with the move. The graph, posted by Musk on his account indicates how this feature serves its notion.

After spending a day on this, Musk discovered that the feature is helping the cause galore. The reason for likes to go private on the platform is that the users’ likes were encouraging wrong and unusual behaviour, as stated by an X representative according to the reports. The feature aims to let the user like whatever they give a “like” without worrying about who might see it.
On June 12, Musk said, “It is important to allow people to like posts without getting attacked for doing so” Over the years, many public figures, including politicians and celebrities, have confronted public criticism for liking objectionable content on the platform thus he found that the private likes encourage people to simply like others’ posts without hesitation.
