Google”s upcoming office in Hyderabad will be the tech giant”s largest office outside the United States. Tech Mahindra CEO Anand Mahindra also shared a video on his X handle showcasing the construction of Google“s largest office, describing this major development as “a geopolitical statement”.

“This is not news about just one new building project. I read this slowly to let it sink into my mind. When a global, iconic giant like Google decides to build its largest office outside the U.S in a particular country, it’s not just commercial news, it’s a geopolitical statement. It’s all happening here now…finally,” wrote Anand Mahindra on his X handle while sharing the video on November 9. The video indicates that the foundation of the new Google building is being prepared. Several netizens reacted to the post of Anand Mahindra. “India is going to be leading player not only IT sector but so many other,” an X user commented.

Google”s new office project was announced in 2015. The new campus, which is located on 7.3-acre land at Gachibowli in Hyderabad, has a built-up area of 3 million square feet. Google had also earlier unveiled the design of the campus. Google acquired the 7.3 acres of land in 2019. The design of the new Hyderabad campus, which is expected to have 23 floors, focuses mainly on sustainability and energy efficiency. Notably, this upcoming office will be the company”s second-largest office worldwide after its headquarters in Mountain View, California. It is expected to be operational by 2026.

Google is constructing the new Hyderabad office under the guidance of the popular British architectural firm, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM). According to AHMM, the campus will be a workplace for 18,000 users. AHMM also claims that the unique structure of the new Google building in India is driven by a nationwide policy to develop and promote centres for expertise and innovation in the country”s technological sector. Currently, Google is located in four major Indian cities. It includes Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Hyderabad.
