Google has introduced new generative AI-powered features in Google Performance Max. With new features, advertisers will be able to make more impactful ads, generating new text and image assets for ad campaigns within a matter of seconds. Google also informed that these features are currently being rolled out as beta versions and will be available to customers in the US. It is expected to roll out to more users before the end of 2023.

Google Performance Max, launched in 2021, is a goal-based campaign type in which performance advertisers can access all of the Google Ads inventory from a single campaign. Google said in its blog post that with the new updates, advertisers will be able to generate new text and image assets for their campaigns with just a few clicks. “With the help of your knowledge and expertise, Google AI will generate assets that help you reach customers across all of Google’s performance inventory and formats,” Google mentioned in the post, which was published on November 7. Performance Max will also take performance data into consideration while generating certain assets for the ad campaigns.

The users will also get more flexibility to enhance both the generated and existing assets with AI-powered image-editing capabilities directly in Google Ads. Most importantly, by early 2024, all accounts will be able to access image editing through the Google Ads asset library. The new development indicates that the tech giant is focusing on making ad creation easier while ensuring responsible use of AI. Google highlighted that its generative AI features follow internal AI principles, and thus it prohibits policy-violating or insensitive creatives.
