Stop Using Hashtags On X, Says Elon Musk Due To This Reason.

Elon Musk, the owner of X has sparked a heated debate on the platform by requesting users to stop using hashtags calling it an ugly gesture.

Musk made a public appeal stating that the system no longer needs hashtags and that they look ugly on a post. This request came in response to a user’s post which featured an answer from X’s AI, Grok addressing the use of hashtags on the platform.

Grok’s response was filled with sarcasm cautioning users against the use of hashtags that labelled them a “ticket to nowhere” in the “grand scheme of digital obscurity.”

However, when FOX5 asked Grok the same question, the answer was different. Grok AI stated that the use of hashtags on X is a topic of debate, with varying perspectives based on recent changes and user experiences.

Hashtags have long been used on social media platforms to organise posts by topic which will make it easier for users to find content related to specific subjects.

Social media experts have recommended using hashtags as a strategy to boost visibility on platforms to date. However, Elon Musk‘s plea to stop using hashtags has sparked a debate among users with some arguing that they are still useful for categorising content and others agreeing with Musk that they are no longer necessary.

Also, X’s Help Center recommends limiting hashtag usage to two or fewer per post, but there is no specified limit to using them.

Some users have expressed frustration with excessive hashtag use, finding it aesthetically unpleasing and potentially indicative of spam or bot activity.

Others suggest using hashtags sparingly with relevant and specific tags to maintain a clean and engaging post appearance and they argue that hashtags are still a useful tool for categorising content.
