Tinder, the popular dating app, has introduced new user warnings to promote good in-app behaviour. Tinder is making this move as part of ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment for its young user base. The platform announced that the new warnings cover areas of authenticity, respect, and inclusivity.

According to Tinder, the majority of its global users are aged 18–25 years old. Tinder says that the new warnings aim to deliver additional guidance to users and help inform them of inappropriate behaviour. “The new warnings are rolling out now and will be live globally in the coming weeks,” added the platform in its statement. Nicole Blumenfeld, Tinder VP of Trust & Safety Operations, said that the platform needed to provide its users with the best experience opportunity to discover new authentic connections in a “safe, fun, and respectful environment.” In May 2023, Tinder announced changes to its community guidelines.

Tinder has classified the new warnings into three categories. This includes authenticity, respectfulness, and inclusiveness. The warnings will cover in-app behavior when engaging with other users, such as harassment, and protect users against advertising and impersonation. Tinder also mentioned that the warnings will be served to users in-app within “messages” from ‘Team Tinder’. This will contain an explanation of what violation occurred and information about expected behaviour and actions. Notably, the warnings will remain as a visible message, and users will not be able to delete them.

“Individual profiles are at risk of being removed if users continue to repeat the same violation,” added Tinder in a statement released on February 5. Tinder, with the latest updates, is making constant efforts to make the platform a safe destination for online daters.
