Since the 2024 US presidential election is heating up with tech billionaires divided between supporting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump, now let’s discuss who supported who from the tech side endorsing the election candidates directly or indirectly.
Some notable tech leaders backing Kamala Harris include Mark Cuban, an entrepreneur and The Shark Tank judge praised Harris for not being an ideologue as he said that voting for Kamala was worth it.
Vinod Khosla, Silicon Valley investor and owner of the Khosla Ventures stated that Trump is not fit to be President as the campaign defends his remarks about violence toward journalists. Vinod Khosla supported Harris in the long run.

Sheryl Sandberg, former Meta COO supported Kamala Harris calling her an “accomplished leader” and the tech mogul Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder donated $50 million to a non-profit supporting Harris. Another supporter is Melinda French Gates, a billionaire and philanthropist who supports Harris saying that she is the “right candidate.”

Netflix executive chairman Reed Hastings reportedly donated $7 million to Harris’ campaign and Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn co-founder has reportedly signed an open letter supporting Harris. OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman has donated to the Harris Victory Fund, as per the reports.
On the other hand, some tech moguls are backing Donald Trump Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has aggressively campaigned for Trump and has made controversial headlines during the election campaign.

PayPal co-founder, Peter Thiel, said that he would vote for Trump but wouldn’t donate. Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, Silicon Valley venture capitalists, criticised Biden’s regulation and taxation and reportedly stated that they wish for Trump’s victory.
Douglas Leone who was the former Sequoia Capital head also expressed concerns about the country’s direction and reportedly said that he supports Donald Trump.

However, some tech giants have remained neutral or undecided as Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, allegedly praised Trump’s campaign event but didn’t disclose where he stands. Tim Cook, Apple chief discussed regulatory issues with Trump but didn’t open up his politics so far.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, reportedly called Trump after the assassination attempt but didn’t provide any information regarding the US elections. Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder remained neutral and didn’t spill the beans about his licence.
Now, polls have wrapped up in seven key battlegrounds but some votes are still in pace and the results are expected to be declared states by states today on Wednesday.
