What Happened When The Truecaller CEO Met Infosys Founder 8 Years Ago?

The Co-founder and CEO of Truecaller Alan Mamedi happened to meet the Infosys founder and CEO NR Narayana Murthy eight years ago. A casual meeting of two business magnate? No… There is something more special of that encounter and Mr Mamedi recently took his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share the eight-year-old memory.

Alan Mamedi is the CEO and co-founder of Truecaller, a smartphone application that enables features of caller-identification, call-blocking, flash-messaging, call-recording, chat and voice by using internet. NR Narayanamurthy is a leading Indian billionaire businessman, who is one of the seven co-founders of Infosys and has previously served as the chairman, chief executive officer, president, and chief mentor of the company before retiring and taking the title chairman emeritus.

Mamedi met Murthy at least eight years ago, and he had no idea that he was meeting the billionaire founder of Infosys. “I did not know who he was and he didn”t know what I did”, described Mamedi on X along with sharing a picture of himself with Murthy. It was only an hour after, having serious discussions about “everything” on life, Mamedi inquired Murthy about what he was doing. Murthy still remained undisclosed of his identity in relation with Infosys but instead identified himself as a philanthropist.

Murthy then said Mamedi that, “My wife always told me that because I had luck in life, I must give back, and that”s what I”m doing today. Giving back”.  No more descriptions are needed to describe the “incredible humble person” in Murthy and Mamedi went astonished.

The story turned more interesting as Mamedi started telling of his childhood dream to work for Infosys. He also explained how the dream come to his mind; when once his computer broke and then it was a service person from Infosys who came to his house to fix it. “It”s funny how life plays out sometimes”, Mamedi ended his note.
