WhatsApp Introduce New Feature For Its Users

In yet another addition to enhancing the user experience, the popular social networking platform WhatsApp introduced the “View Once” feature for voice notes.

The new feature is currently being tested for Android and iOS users who are using the beta version of the app.

WhatsApp announced today, December 12, that its users can now send a voice message that will disappear once listened to. Enhancing the user’s privacy, the new feature prevents the message receiver from exporting, forwarding, saving, or recording the voice note. The latest feature allows the user to designate voice notes as “View Once”.

The user simply has to record their voice message and then tap the new one-time icon. The message will disappear after the recipient heard it only once.

WhatsApp has introduced a series of privacy-focused features in recent years and the View Once is the latest among them.

Earlier in 2021, WhatsApp had introduced a similar feature for photos and videos, making the photo and video disappear after the recipient viewed them. The new feature arrives, strengthening the security of the users, with the user now free to read out sensitive information over voice messages with less worry over its misuse.

To maintain consistency with the view once photos and videos “view once” voice message will be marked with the “one-time” icon and can only be played one time.

“As with all your personal messages, WhatsApp protect your voice messages with end-to-end encryption by default, and View Once is just another example of our continued privacy innovation,” WhatsApp said, news agency ANI reported.
