Egyptian National Arrested In Makkah Over Fake Hajj, Umrah Permit Ads
Makkah, Saudi Arabia: Authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested a man in Makkah for alleged fake advertisements promising permits to enter the holy sites in the kingdom. The accused man, an Egyptian national, was found posting these ads that offered people permits and fake Hajj services through social media.
After arresting the man, officials referred him to the Public Prosecution in the Kingdom for his crime. A special Hajj permit issued by relevant authorities is needed to enter the Holy Sites for anyone who does not have a residency permit in Makkah, as per new rules for this year.
Concerned authorities have directed people to comply with the regulations for Hajj, and to report any violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom.
The new rules are intended to protect the safety of pilgrims during this period, including restrictions on who can enter the city of Makkah.
