Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah sparked controversy on Monday at an event in Mhow for his remarks about Indian Army Colonel Sofia Qureshi. Qureshi, along with Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force, conducted multiple media briefings during the recent Operation Sindoor mission.

During the address, Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a “a sister from their community” to confront those in Pakistan responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Continuing further, he said, “if you widowed our sisters, a sister of yours will come and undress you. And he [Modi] had said India will strike them in their own home.”

Slamming Minister’s remark, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded his immediate removal from the state cabinet. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Shah came up with clarification that his remarks were twisted and taken out of context.
