Indian actor Ravi Mohan, formerly known as Jayam Ravi, is currently in Colombo for shooting his upcoming political drama Parasakthi. During his work travels, the actor had an unexpected encounter with none other than legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya.
A video of the pair’s meeting soon went viral, with fans praising both Mohan and Jayasuriya’s humbleness and grounded nature.
Upon spotting Jayasuriya, Mohan can be seen folding his hands as a token of respect. The two greeted each other and had a candid conversation with each other about Mohan’s upcoming film and its ongoing shoot.
Ravi Mohan’s upcoming Tamil film titled Parasakthi also stars Sivakarthikeyan, Atharvaa, Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Basil Joseph and others. The film will also mark Sreeleela’s Tamil debut. The film is expected to release during Pongal.
Mohan made headlines recently after he changed his stage name of over 20 years. The actor, who is interestingly half muslim, clarified that he would like to be referred to as Ravi or Ravi Mohan.
Following Chris Silverwood’s resignation after Sri Lanka’s premature exit from the T20 World Cup, Jayasuriya will step in as the new head coach. The 35-year-old former Sri Lankan cricket captain and ex-chief selector was approached to take over coaching.
“Happy to do it,” Jayasuriya told AFP. He will assume coaching duties after the conclusion of the ongoing T20 Lanka Premier League on July 21.
Jayasuriya, who represented Sri Lanka in 586 matches across formats, scoring 42 centuries and claiming 440 wickets, played his last international game in 2011.
