
Agreement To Cancel Nimisha Priya’s Death Sentence, Final Decision Soon: Kanthapuram
The office of Kanthapuram AP Aboobacker Musliyar has announced that an agreement has been reached to revoke Nimisha Priya’s death sentence. Kanthapuram stated that some crucial decisions were made in the case. It has been agreed to revoke the death sentence of the Indian nurse who was in the death row for a murder of a Yemeni national and decide other matters based on further discussions, with a final decision expected soon.
The decision was reached during mediation talks that included a Yemeni scholarly delegation appointed by Sheikh Omar Hafeez Thangal at the request of Kanthapuram, as well as rulers of Northern Yemen and international diplomatic officials.
Further discussions with the family of the deceased, Talal, will determine other matters, said a report. Earlier, Nimisha Priya’s death sentence, which was scheduled for July 16, was temporarily postponed following Kanthapuram’s intervention.
