All Eyes On Rafah Trend Surpasses 44 Million On Instagram

The AI generated graphics of All Eyes On Rafah has been shared by more than 44 million times on Instagram. The increase in the sharing came after Israel committed a “massacre” on May 26th, burning alive more than 45 Palestinians who were seeking safety in areas that the Israeli occupation force called “safe zone”.

The All Eyes On Rafah graphics depicts a densely packed rows of tents stretching endlessly across a desert landscape overshadowed by mountains. The image alludes to more than 1 million displaced Palestinians who were running from the intense Israeli bombing.

The massacre on May 26th came a day after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has asked Israel to halt all the operation in Rafah. The intensity of the brutality has garnered global condemnation on Israel. Several A-list celebrities including celebrities from India, who has been silent for the past seven months since Israel started its brutal war on Gaza on October 7th.

The trend has also been widely shared in other social media platform like X (formerly twitter), where the hashtag #alleyesonrafah has reached almost one million hits, according to online monitor Visibrain. X has also seen 27.5 million messages regarding Rafah within past three days.

Even after being put on scrutiny on global level for the most heinous conduct of war, Israel continue to attack the border land.

The slogan All Eyes On Rafah seems to form from a comment by Rick Peeperkorn, the director of World Health Organization’s Office of the Occupied Palestinian Territories. He made the remark in February days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu order to evacuate the southern city of Gaz Strip, that shares border with Egypt.

The war started on October 7th, when Hamas, the resistance group of Gaza has unleashed an unprecedented attack on Tel Aviv. The attack was a result of intense oppression and occupation Israel has been imposing on Gaza. Hamas attack has killed 1,189 Israelis. The group took 252 as hostages.

Israel’s retaliatory attack was brutal and barbaric, which were mostly aimed at the Palestinian civilians. The occupation force has cut off food, water, electricity, and fuel, which has been delivered through human rights organization, as Tel Aviv has blockaded Gaza Strip on almost all sides.
