Bahrain: Clash Erupts With Security Forces As Protest Breaks Out Against Ruling Kingdom

Protests broke out in Bahrain against the ruling government following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The protesters are angry with the ruling kingdom for allowing the US to set up and operate their military bases in their country, which is used to attack Iran, and the killing of its supreme leader.

Bahraini security forces dispersed the demonstration, leading to violent clashes where protesters threw Molotov cocktails. As Iran has struck several US bases in Bahrain in retaliation to the killing of its supreme leader and attack across its cities, the US president has spoken with the gulf nation today.

People in Bahrain have been protesting against the US bases for decades. Hosting the American and UK bases has meant that the regime in Bahrain has been able to get away with atrocities against the people of Bahrain, including during the jasmine revolution in 2011.

The US and the UK are seen as allies and enablers of the ruling family that allegedly violently occupied Bahrain in 1783.
