GCC Unified Visa To Be Delayed
Redefining travel across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the nations’ governments unanimously presented the world with a unified Gulf tourist visa, promising boundless adventure for globetrotters. However, as per the latest update, Oman’s Minister of Heritage and Tourism has indicated that the implementation of the unified Gulf visa will be delayed.
The Minister cited security concerns and differing viewpoints among the GCC member countries as the reasons for the unexpected delay. The initiative, which was officially approved in 2023, aimed to boost tourism by simplifying travel across GCC countries. However, its implementation remains challenging, and the Minister noted that the proposal is still under research and study.

Furthermore, he highlighted specific considerations regarding certain nationalities, particularly those from countries experiencing conflict and instability. These factors add to the complexities surrounding the visa’s implementation, as security concerns remain paramount.
Initially, the visa was set to be launched in December 2024 or early 2025. Moreover, it would allow travelers to stay in the participating nations for over 30 days.
After its launch, globetrotters will be able to travel to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain using the Grand Travel Visa. This initiative is considered one of the most significant steps toward genuine Gulf economic integration since the GCC’s formation. A single visa system would bring the long-held dream of a unified Gulf market one step closer.
