Hamas confirms the Israeli assassination of its political chief Yahya Sinwar. Khalil Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza confirmed the Israel’s claim that indeed Sinwar was assassinated. Speaking in a televised address, Hayya says the Palestinian group honours “the memory of the fallen martyr, Yahya Sinwar”.
Describing the Sinwar as “steadfast, brave and intrepid”, Hayya said he “sacrificed his life to the cause of our liberation.
“He met his end standing brave, with his head held high, holding his firearm, firing until the last breath, until the last moment of his life [Sinwar] has lived his whole life as a holy fighter. Since his early days, he was engaged in his struggle as a resistant fighter. He stood defiant behind Israeli bars and after his release in a swapped deal, he continued with his struggle and his dedication to the cause”.
Speaking about the Israeli hostages, Hamas said their return will be only after the complete cessation of the occupations’ barbarism in Gaza.
In a statement released, the movement said, “To those lamenting the captured occupiers held by the resistance, we say: they will not return except with the cessation of aggression on Gaza, its withdrawal, and the release of our heroic prisoners from the occupation’s jails”.
Earlier, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that three Hamas activists were eliminated during an operation in Gaza and they are checking the possibility that one of them was Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar. The Occupation Force has also claimed that the identity of those who was killed cannot be confirmed at this stage.
“During IDF operations in Gaza, 3 terrorists were eliminated. The IDF and ISA are checking the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed. In the building where the terrorists were eliminated, there were no signs of the presence of hostages in the area. The forces that are operating in the area are continuing to operate with the required caution,” the IDF statement claimed.
Sinwar, who took charge as Hamas chief after Israel assassinated Ismail Haniyeh in Iran in August this year and also alleged to be the architect of the October 7thattack on Israel, has been in Gaza during the 12 months long Israeli genocidal war in the Strip. He is one of the most uncompromising leader of Hamas movement. He has been navigating the military wing of Hamas, al Qassam Brigades against ferocious attacks from Israel. Analysts have observed several times that Hamas is putting a very strong fight, making it extremely difficult for the occupation force to attain their goal of destruction.
