While Israel occupation force is inching closer to the ground assault, which they had been waiting since the war began, Hamas resistance group said they are seeking the release of eight Russian hostages, as reported by Russian news agency.
Moussa Abu Marzook, senior Hamas representative said that Hamas received a list of Russian “citizens that have dual citizenship”. He said they received the message via the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Marzook was also quoted as saying, “we are looking for those people…It is hard but we are looking. And when we find them, we will let them go”. He also added that Hamas is very attentive to the list and “will process it carefully because we consider Russia to be the closest friend”.
Talking about the hostages from the resistance group’s attack on October 7th, the Hamas representative said that, “about the peaceful citizens that were taken and that are now in Gaza, we treat them as guests”.
Since the beginning of the war, Russia vocalised their worry about the inconsiderate trampling of humanitarian crisis adhering to the bombarding in Gaza and the blockade of basic necessities like food, water, electricity and fuel.
Earlier, while talking with Belarusian state news agency Belta, that while Russia condemns terrorism, the country also “categorically disagree that you can respond to terrorism by violating the norms of international humanitarian law”.
Mr. Lavrov also warned that the destruction of Gaza could create a “catastrophe” that would last for decades if not for centuries. He said, “if Gaza is destroyed and the 2 million inhabitants are expelled as some politicians in Israel and abroad propose, this will create a catastrophe for many decades to come, if not for centuries”. He also called for ending the attack on civilians of Gaza and “announce the humanitarian programmes to save the population under block”. Mr. Lavrov also added that Russia is in close contact with Israel too.
