Held Back At Airport, Libyan Man Miraculously Boards Same Plane He Missed For Hajj
Mecca, Saudi Arabia: It is the Hajj season, and millions gather in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca, the holiest Islamic pilgrimage site, to perform Hajj rituals. The Hajj pilgrimage is the most cherished and carved journey for devotees across the world. In history, there are stories of sacrifices, setbacks, miracles and patience in connection with people’s intense desire to reach the holy city.
A recent incident from Libya suggests that miracles continue to happen: a young man, Amer Al Mahdi Mansour Al Gaddafi, who had set his heart on performing Hajj this year, faced an obstacle at the airport but miraculously still managed to make his way to Mecca. Visuals related to the man being held back at an airport before departing to Saudi Arabia are going viral on social media.

Amer’s ambitious journey for Hajj got into trouble at the immigration due to a security delay linked to his surname, Al Gaddafi, which is still a concern in Libya over a decade-long civil unrest. He was held back at the airport’s counter as his Hajj group boarded the flight.
Though he pleaded to let him board the flight, the captain reportedly insisted on departing without him, noting scheduling constraints due to security uncertainty. The flight then departed from the airport while the man remained resolute, stating he would not step back unless it was toward Hajj.
Surprisingly, the flight developed a technical malfunction moments later and was forced to return. When the flight again took off after minor repairs, it again encountered a second issue, leading to another U-turn. The two consecutive setbacks made the fight’s captain to announce that he would not fly again without Amer. “I swear I won’t fly again unless Amer is with us on this plane,” Gulf News quoted the captain.

Authorities then quickly cleared Amer for travel, and with the third take off with Amer aboard, the flight managed to depart without any malfunctions. The visuals of Amer departing for Mecca, with security officials ushering him towards the flight has spread quickly on social media, with many associating it with similar stories in history that the events occurred as a sign of divine intervention for the devotee. Amer later said that he only wanted to go to Hajj, and he believed that if it was written for him, no force could prevent it.
