Islamic Arts Biennale is the sole biennale dedicated to the arts of Islamic civilization. It will make its return for the second edition in January 2025, announced the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, the organisers of the event.
The biennale will take place at the famous Western Hajj Terminal of the King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, and will continue till May 25. The second edition will comprise five galleries, incorporating a curated exhibition showcasing historical objects alongside contemporary art. Two special pavilions, Makkah and Madinah, are dedicated to celebrating these two of the most holy sites in Islamic culture.

Spreading over a total area of more than a 110,000 square meters, with 12,000 square meters of exhibition space, the Biennale takes visitors on a journey through ideas, objects, rituals, and aesthetics that defines Islamic arts in all its varied forms.
The directors of the second edition are Amin Jaffer, Julian Raby, Abdulrahman Azzam and Muhannad Shono.

In the forthcoming edition, Biennale plans to focus architecture as an expression of Islamic culture, and to foster that, it has introduced a new AlMusalla Prize International competition. In the competition, architects are asked design a sustainable and versatile prayer space or musalla and it is in line with Biennale’s spiritual connection with its venue.

The inaugural edition of the Biennale in 2023 was based on the theme of ‘Awwal Bait’, meaning ‘First House’ and has attracted over 600,000 visitors.
Through Islamic Biennale, Diriyah Biennale Foundation, established in 2020 aimed to advance creative expression and instigate an appreciation for culture and the arts in the Saudi Arabia.
