Reportedly, Hezbollah unleashed a series of attacks against Israel on August 16, targeting multiple military sites. The attack came a day after publishing a footage that showed Hezbollah’s fighters driving trucks with rocket launchers through a maze of tunnels to an apparent underground launch site. The video was latest among the series of videos the group launched.

It depicts fighters riding motorcycles, working on laptops and driving around a dozen trucks through the rocky tunnels, said Reuters. The news agency said it was unable to independently confirm when or where it was filmed.

The video identified the facility as being named “Imad 4”, an apparent reference to Imad Mughniyeh, a shadowy Hezbollah commander killed in 2008.

At the same time, latest Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has killed at least 10 people, said the country’s Health Ministry. Israel said it was targeting a Hezbollah weapons storage facility.

the attack on the Nabatieh region also injured five others, of whom two are in critical condition. In a statement released, the Health Ministry said that residential building was hit.

On its Telegram channel, Israel’s military claimed that the air force had struck a weapons warehouse of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah overnight “in the area of Nabatieh”, located about 12km (seven miles) from the nearest point to the Israeli border.

The strike is considered to be one of the deadliest in Lebanon since Hezbollah started trading near-daily fire with Israeli forces in support of its ally Hamas and in solidarity with the Palestinian people since the October 7 attack on southern Israel and Israel’s subsequent war on Gaza.

Hezbollah, other armed groups in Lebanon, and Israel exchanged at least 8,533 attacks across the border from October 7 to July 31, as per Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project. Israel conducted about 82 percent of these attacks, totalling 7,033 incidents, killing at least 601 people in Lebanon. Hezbollah and other armed groups were responsible for 1,500 attacks that killed at least 23 Israelis, according to the report.

Situation went downhill after a rocket attack on a Druze village in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, killing at least 12, most of whom are children. Israel blamed the attack on Hezbollah, which the group denied.

Israel then assassinated top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukur, in a missile attack in the suburbs of Beirut. Hezbollah promised to retaliate. Iran also pledged to attack Israel for the assassination of Hamas political chief, Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. iThe fragile situation has created a sinking fear of regional escalation.
