Hezbollah Fires 100 Rockets To Israel Following The Killing Of Its Commander; Tension Soars In The Region

Responding to the killing of one of its commanders in Lebanon, Hezbollah today fired a barrage of rockets at northern Israel. The Lebanese-militant group launched over 100 projectiles in the morning. Israel had on Tuesday struck sites in the Lebanon targets, claiming that it killed three Hezbollah fighters including Taleb Abdullah.

The deadly revenge strike, firing over 100 rockets is the fist largest attack since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war. Hezbollah had announced the death of senior commander in yesterday’s Israeli attack.

In a statement today, Israel confirmed that around 90 rockets were fired from Lebanon. The sirens were sounded across the north of the country, adding that it intercepted many rockets while some rockets were managed to land. There were no causalities reported in Israel, though the rockets caused fire in some areas.

However, the latest confrontation is feared to have escalated the volatile situation of the region, raising concerns over a full-fledged war between the two. Both have vowed their readiness to face any war situation.

Israel has been repeatedly attacking deeper into northeast Lebanon. Since the Israel-Hamas war on October 7 last year, Hizballah had opened another front in Lebanese side, attacking Israel against its offensive in Gaza.

So far, the militant group has lost many hundreds of fighters, in addition to many civilian casualties in Israeli attacks.
