Iran's Parliament Brings Emergency Bill For Full NPT Withdrawal
After the announcement of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom (the E3) to unleash the snapback mechanism on sanctions against Tehran, Iran’s Parliament has reportedly submitted an emergency bill proposing a full withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Snapback or sanctions are a legal mechanism to restore penalties agreed previously at the United Nations.
The bill would be uploaded to the parliamentary system and reviewed in an open session, Hossein-Ali Haji-Deligani, Deputy Chairman of the Article 90 Committee of Iran’s Parliament, confirmed.

The proposed legislation comes after Tehran’s growing frustration over the West’s repeated failure to honor the agreements and ease economic pressure on Iran, the reports said. Haji Deligani reportedly said that Iran’s Parliament is determined to pursue a firm and deterrent course of action.
The imposition of the snapback mechanism reinstates earlier sanctions without bringing any new developments. The lawmaker emphasised a strategic and assertive response from Iran.
“We witnessed that during negotiations with the arrogant US, a brutal war was launched against our country by Israel, and the US bombed our peaceful nuclear sites,” he added. “Our people clearly know that talks with these countries have brought nothing but more pressure. Therefore, all dialogue must be suspended until these countries abandon their double standards.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also condemned the snapback measures as ‘unjustified, illegal, and lacking any legal basis. “Iran has acted responsibly and in good faith in adhering to diplomacy for resolving nuclear-related issues,” Araqchi reportedly said. He stressed that Iran remains firm in defending its legal rights under international law and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Notably, Iran’s and European diplomats held a second round of nuclear talks in Geneva before the October deadline for invoking the snapback clause. However, the E3 action came just after the meeting, triggering Iran to bring the draft bill to its Parliament proposing a full withdrawal from the NPT.
On June 12, 2025, Israel attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities and its nuclear scientists, followed by US attacks on its 3 major nuclear sites, including Furdow, to destroy the nuclear power of Iran.
