Israel-Hamas War: Temporary Truce Extended For Another Day

Israel-Hamas War; Temporary Truce Extended

Israel – Hamas truce extended for a seventh day. Taking to X (formerly twitter), IDF said the “operational pause will continue in the light of mediator’s efforts to continue the process of releasing the hostages and subject to the terms of the framework”.

In a separate statement, Hamas also said the agreement for the extension of the truce for seventh day has reached, said Al Jazeera.

Earlier Hamas said Israel rejected the proposed hostage exchange offer for extending the temporary truce. The proposal was to receive seven women and child hostages and three bodies of hostages died in the Israeli bombing, as per Hamas.

“This is despite confirming through mediators that this group is all the (Hamas) movement has in terms of detainees in the agreed-upon category”, said Hamas in a statement. The truce between Israel and Hamas was due to expire today at 7 am local time.

With mediation efforts from Qatar and Egypt, a temporary truce for four days was reached on November 24. Later it was extended for another two days, till Thursday. At the last moment of the expiration of the six day long truce, Israel declared the extension of the truce, presumably for another day.

On his X account, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu clarified his “policy” and said, “there is no way we are not going back to fighting until the end”. He said his answer to the questions about whether Israel will return to fight after the abductees are released is “unequivocal – yes”.
