Israel war cabinet minister Benny Gantz reportedly opposed to a potential political move to unseat Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The Kan public broadcaster reported that Benny Gantz views calls to replace Benjamin Netanyahu in the middle of the war as “nothing less than crazy.”
Benny Gantz, a former defence minister and military chief of staff, was reportedly quoted in private conversations as stating that a prime minister cannot be replaced during times of war. However, the report also added that Benny Gantz believes there will be a time to discuss and investigate the responsibilities over the Hamas attack against Israel on October 7. Benjamin Netanyahu is widely blamed for the security failures that happened on October 7.
On October 29, the Israeli Prime Minister apologized for making a statement in which he blamed the security services for failing to prevent the Hamas attack. Benjamin Netanyahu also deleted the post on X, which pointed the finger of blame at intelligence services. This post quickly created a political uproar. Benny Gantz also responded to this statement and said that Benjamin Netanyahu should take back what he said and let the matter go.
On the other hand, the Palestinian death toll in the ongoing war has gone up to 11,078 since it began on October 7. The health ministry in Gaza reportedly said that there is a shortage of fuel at Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, and it has prevented surgeries and obstructed the operation of incubators for premature babies.
