Magnitude 4.3 Earthquake Strikes Gerash, Iran: US Geological Survey
Tehran, Iran: Magnitude 4.3 earthquake has struck Iran’s Gerash on Tuesday at a depth of 10km, says United States Geological Survey (USGS). Social media have erupted with rumours that Iran tested nuclear weapon, triggering the earthquake in Gerash region.
Given the ongoing war with US and Israel, the speculation quickly surfaced online suggesting the quake could be linked to a nuclear test.

However, there is no evidence to back the nuclear test claim based on geological context, and the seismic data, as official have classified the event as a natural tectonic earthquake. Notably, nuclear tests, particularly underground detonations, produce distinct seismic signatures, and it also typically generate sharp, high-frequency signals dominated by primary (P) waves.
