“Mark my words: The U.S. will come to bitterly regret the precedent it has set,” the Iranian leader wrote on X. The reaction comes a day after the US submarine attacked the Iranian warship IRIS Dena, sinking the vessel in the torpedo attack in the Indian Ocean off Sri Lanka’s southern coast, killing at least 83 people.

The Sri Lankan Navy rescued 32 injured sailors, who are currently undergoing treatment at a public hospital in the island nation’s southern Galle district. Notably, following the incident, the government of India is facing backlash from the house over whether it has any influence in the Indian Ocean.
