Iran Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for unity in Middle East while delivering rare Friday sermon. Khamenei said that there is only one enemy, which is trying to sow the seeds of division among all Muslims. He said the enemy is same to Palestinians, Lebanon, Egyptians, Iraqis, Yemenis, and Syrians. “Our enemy is one”, he said.
The sermon was first in nearly five years since he last delivered one. While addressing the huge gathering, Khamenei said every country has the right to defend itself from its aggressors.
While calling for the Muslim nations to prepare their “defence against the common enemy”, Khamenei also said that the October 7th Hamas attack on Israel, and Iran’s recent ballistic missile attack were “legal and legitimate”.

“Each and every country, each and every people have the ultimate right to defend themselves against the ultimate tyranny”, said the Supreme Leader.
Hr also added that Tehran won’t “procrastinate or rush to carry out its duty” in confronting Israel.
Speaking on behalf of Palestine, Khamenei said, “The Palestinian people have a lawful right to defend themselves. To stand up to those criminals – the occupation forces. There is not a single court or international organisation that can blame the Palestinian people for simply defending their homeland”.
It is believed that the Supreme Leader of Iran anticipate a regional war. During his sermon, he switched to Arabic instead of Persian, and called for unity among the Muslim nations.

Khamenei’s decision to deliver the sermon, and to publicly lead the Friday prayer – especially at a time when the atmosphere is extremely fragile with possible Israel attack – is perceived as strong form of defiance, and a stronger message to Israel.
During the second part of his sermon, which was delivered in Arabic, Khamenei directly addressed the Arab nations. He said interference by foreign powers supporting Israel is the most pressing issue in the region.
Khamenei said that the resistance against Israeli aggression has “set the Zionist regime back 70 years” as it is now fighting to survive as it did at the time of its founding.
