Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been bestowed with Oman’s highest civilian honor, ‘The First Class of the Order of Oman’, by the Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. This is the latest addition to PM Modi’s distinguished list of more than 28 highest civilian awards from foreign nations.

PM Modi is in Oman for a two-day visit in the last leg of his three-nation tour, including Jordan and Ethiopia. Prime Minister was received by Oman’s deputy PM for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, in Muscat.

Home Minister Amit Shah shared the information via X and said it was a grand endorsement of PM Modi’s statesmanship and his global leadership.

His visit to Muscat coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Oman, as both countries seek to strengthen their strategic partnership across trade, investment, energy, defence, and cultural cooperation.

In a separate message on the India–Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Shah described the pact as a major milestone, noting that it provides zero-duty access on 98.08 per cent of Oman’s tariff lines, benefiting 99.38 per cent of Indian exports.

In a social media post, PM Modi described, Oman is a land of enduring friendship and deep historical connections with India. He said this visit offers an opportunity to explore new avenues of collaboration and add fresh momentum to the partnership between the two countries.
