Qatar Airways Group Names Badr Mohammed al-Meer as New CEO

Qatar Airways Group has announced the appointment of Badr Mohammed al-Meer as its new Group Chief Executive, effective November 5, 2023. Al-Meer succeeds Akbar al-Baker, who has led the airline for 27 years.

Al-Meer brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport. He has played a crucial role in the success and transformation of the airport, which is now one of the busiest and most awarded airports in the world.

Qatar Airways, under the leadership of its CEO, Akbar Al Baker, has become a globally renowned and respected brand that is associated with exceptional customer service and the highest standards of quality. The airline has won the prestigious “World”s Best Airline” award a record seven times, and its state-of-the-art hub, Hamad International Airport, has been recognized as the “World”s Best Airport” for six consecutive years.
