Qatar Labour Ministry’s E-Service To Change Residency From Family To Work

Several ministries in Qatar have initiated the digitisation process so as to make their services digital and accessible to more people. As a move in this regard, the Qatar’s Ministry of Labour (MoL) has launched a new e-service, which is the Request to Join the Labour Market by Changing from Family Residency to Work Residency, reported Qatarliving.com. This service was launched during a seminar which was conducted for entrepreneurs, organised by MoL, together with Qatar Development Bank (QDB). The service mainly caters to the private enterprises in Qatar.

With this e-service, the hiring process in the case of residents would be made simplified unlike the process of spending money to recruit employees from overseas destinations. Another part of the newly launched digital service is that, it would be of aid for the resident locals to find more employment and would bring them into the local labour markets as active participants.

The Head of Work Permits Section at MoL’s Employment Department, Salem Darwish Al Muhannadi said that, “the participating entrepreneurs were given detailed information about MoL services, with special focus on two services — Request to Amend Occupations on Work-Permits and Attestation of Work Contracts.” He added that the ministry had about 25 services for entrepreneurs which were fully digital and that the digital services ranged well with the labour sector’s digital transformation.

He further said that, “the ultimate objective is to streamline, expedite service delivery and enhance the customer journey; thereby fortifying a more efficient and effective support system for all stakeholders.”

The seminar was attended by various representatives of MoL, including the departments of Work Permits, Labour Relations, Inspection and Labour Disputes. The national workforce in the Private Sector was also there at the seminar, said Qatarliving.com.
