Red Alert Issued In Several Parts Of Saudi Arabia As Heavy Rain, Flash Floods Forecast

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia has issued red alert for  heavy rain in parts of Makkah and several other regions in the kingdom. The authorities have warned of potential flash flood and strong winds in the coming days.

National Centre for Meteorology (NCM), while predicting the temperatures expected to reach 47°C, forecast  thunderstorms, flash floods, heavy downpours and strong winds cross several regions.

The weather forecasting agency aid moderate to heavy thunderstorms were expected over parts of Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca and Medina. It also alerted residents that heavy rain could trigger flash floods in the gulf nation.

The authorities also issued an orange alert for moderate rain was in place for Al Ais, Al Mahd, Badr and surrounding areas in Madinah region, while yellow alerts for light rain and blowing dust covered Rabigh, Jeddah, Al Khurmah and nearby areas in Mecca.

Fog could form overnight and during the early morning over coastal areas in eastern Saudi Arabia, potentially reducing visibility.
