Saudi Arabia Shifts Classes To Online Mode After Heavy Rainfall And Storms
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Saudi Arabia authorities have suspended in-person classes following heavy rainfall and storms across several regions and provinces of the kingdom on Sunday, April 12. The government has shifted the classes to remote learning to ensure students’ safety, Saudi Gazette reported.
The schools and educational institutions will be taking online classes through the ‘Madrasas’ platform, announced Education departments in the Eastern Province, Al Baha and Asia. The National Center for Meteorology of the kingdom had warned of weather changes and had issued alerts.

In the Eastern Province, classes were halted in Dammam and governorates including Khobar, Qatif, Jubail, Ras Tanura, Abqaiq, and Al-Ahsa, based on reports from the National Center for Meteorology. Al-Baha authorities also suspended in-person classes in central sectors and governorates such as Bani Hassan, Baljurashi, and Al-Mandaq, citing safety concerns.
The decision covered all schools within areas under red weather alerts, including Abha, Khamis Mushait, Ahad Rafidah, Sarat Abidah, Al-Namas, Dhahran Al-Janoub, Tanomah, Balqarn, Al-Harjah, Al-Raboah, and Al-Farsha.

Notably, several universities also suspended in-person classes, including Al-Baha University, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, and King Khalid University.
