Opposite to what the world thinks of Saudi Arabia as just a desert land, the kingdom has several coveted greenish regions, including high ranges with a cool to moderate climate throughout the year. One of these hidden gems is the Fifa Mountains. Covered by green valley and enchanting views, one would never expect in Saudi Arabia.

Also known as “Neighbor of the Moon” due to the sites’ visual appeal and the building’s view appearing touching the sky, the mountains are located at an altitude of more than 1,800 kilometers above sea level. Fifa is not just one mountain, but a series of mountains wrapped around one another, with green lush surrounding the surfaces, giving all the natural feeling one would expect in ideal high ranges. The mountains included Al-Lagha, Al-Kadrah, Baqat Al-Washl, Al-Surrah, Qardah, and Al-Sama, and the highest one among them is Al-Absiyya summit.

Located in the Jazan region with only 100 km from the city, Fifa Mountain remains one of the popular destinations of Saudi Arabia. Amidst the mountains, there are modern, tall buildings that appear to be touching the clouds, offering mild weather and enjoyable surroundings throughout the year. During the winter season, the temperature would drop, covering the region in cold.

Interestingly, the sightseers can feel the panoramic view of the neighboring governorates from the pinnacles of the mountain series of Fifa. The residents of the Fifa mountainous area rely on agriculture for livelihoods, as the terraces of the region are cultivation-friendly with fertile soils. It is further protected from erosion by an elaborate system that collects water from the mountaintops and roofs of houses as reservoirs to be used for irrigation during dry seasons.
