Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, January 14, welcomed the designation by the United States of America on January 13 of the Muslim Brotherhood branches in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon as terrorist groups.
In a statement issued by Saudi’s Foreign Ministry, the kingdom once again affirmed its condemnation of extremism and terrorism while assuring support to all that “achieves security, stability and prosperity of Arab countries, and the security of the region and the world.”

Notably, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt has strongly rejected the US’s decision to classify the group as a terrorist organisation, highlighting that it is not based on any credible legal evidence. The group in statement added that it will take all legal measures to halt the enforcement of the decision, and to protect its rights and those of its members.
Recently, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has restricted government funding for its citizens to study at universities in the United Kingdom (UK), amid the bilateral tensions between the two countries over long-standing differences, particularly the UK’s decision not to ban the Muslim brotherhood groups.
