Qatar, one of the GCC’s rapidly evolving economies, is poised for significant growth in its maritime and logistics sectors, aligning with its National Vision 2030. A testament to this development is the upcoming Seatrade Maritime Qatar event, scheduled for February 4-5, 2025, at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
This event will highlight Qatar’s increasing prominence as a maritime hub on the global shipping map.
Organized by Seatrade Maritime in partnership with Founding Strategic Partner Mwani Qatar, the event aims to further drive the growth of Qatar’s maritime sector.
Mwani Qatar emphasized that while Qatar continues to enhance its global leadership in the oil and gas sector, it is equally focused on boosting its non-hydrocarbon economy.
The country aims for an average annual real non-hydrocarbon growth of 4 percent through 2030, emphasizing sectors such as manufacturing, tourism, logistics, education, health, food and agriculture, financial services, and information technology.
In the first half of 2024, Mwani Qatar reported that 1,323 ships called at Qatar’s three ports. The ports handled 931,465 tonnes of general and bulk cargo, 55,944 units of RORO vehicles, 358,201 heads of livestock, and 171,158 tonnes of building materials. Additionally, they collectively managed 706,983 TEU containers, reflecting a 12 percent growth compared to the same period last year.
Seatrade Maritime Qatar will explore how international companies can do business in Qatar while promoting local companies on the global stage. Chris Morley, Group Director of Seatrade Maritime, highlighted their extensive experience, stating, “With over 50 years in the maritime industry, Seatrade Maritime is well-positioned to launch this event in Qatar. We are confident that Seatrade Maritime Qatar will support Qatar’s National Vision 2030 objectives, and we are proud to be part of this journey.”
