UAE Introduces New Dhs 100 Banknote With Advanced Security Features

The Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE) has introduced new Dh100 banknotes made of polymer. The new banknote features innovative designs and advanced security features. This launch is part of CBUAE’s third issuance of the National Currency Project, which aims to enhance the country’s currency system.

The new design reflects the nation’s progress and growth while incorporating advanced security features. The banknote highlights both cultural and developmental symbols that showcase the UAE’s journey toward becoming a global economic and cultural hub. Notably, it features the Port of Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain National Fort, symbolizing the country’s success and heritage.

The red colour of the denomination maintains the existing colour scheme of the current Dh100 note. The fort of Umm Al Quwain on the banknote links the UAE’s rich past with its present achievements, while the reverse side depicts the Port of Fujairah, one of the UAE’s largest and busiest ports, alongside Etihad Rail, a vital railway network connecting all seven emirates and extending to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

To enhance the security and prevent counterfeiting, the Dhs100 banknote includes advanced security features such as SPARK flow DIMENSIONS and KINEGRAM COLORS, a multi-coloured security chip technology.

Moreover, by choosing to print the note in polymer, the new banknote will be more sustainable than other traditional paper notes and it is expected to last two or more time longer in circulation. Braille symbols too are incorperated on the note, allowing visually impaired individuals to identify the value of the note easily.

The new note will begin circulating alongside the existing Dh100 banknotes starting March 24. Banks and exchange houses have been instructed to update their cash deposit machines and counting devices to ensure the acceptance of both the new polymer banknotes and the existing paper notes.
