Yemen’s Houthis, one of Iran’s proxies in West Asia, have not yet joined the war started by the US-Israel against the Islamic Republic. According to Fatehi bin Lazreq, editor of the Aden al-Ghad newspaper, the group is still studying the situation and will make their decision based on the challenges facing Iran.

Experts observe that if Iran is losing or facing an existential threat from the US-Israel attack, the group will intervene to fully engage in the conflict. Notably, Israel is reportedly preparing for the Houtis to join the war to target the Yemen-based group’s operatives.

After the killing of Iran Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Houthis’ leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi, struck an unusually restrained tone, restraining from his usual fiery rhetoric. The Houthis leader short of pledging military support while expressing support for Tehran in his speech.

Notably, suggesting internal division, a Houthi official reportedly stated they would resume attack on Red Sea Sipping, which another official denied later. The group has internal disagreement on the manner of response against the attack on their backer.
